What Are Travel Vaccines?

Travel vaccines are shots that travellers can get before visiting certain areas of the world that help protect them from serious illnesses. They are safe, effective ways to help protect you on your travels.  Travel vaccines protect you in areas where there is a high risk of contracting certain illnesses.

How do travel vaccines work?

Travel vaccines expose your body to germs or parts of germs of the disease it will protect against. The body makes antibodies that will protect you if you are exposed to the disease in the future. Routine vaccines are the standard immunisations recommended in the UK. Recommended vaccines also help prevent the spread of diseases from one country to another.
